Playlist Series: "got a london heart"

During winter, I tend to listen to acoustic songs, along with a mix of soft/indie pop. I generally need songs that make me feel things; for some reason, the cold winter air makes me crave to be able to connect with singers and their lyrics. This playlist, for me, is the embodiment of that. These are the songs I need when I sip my morning coffee, or what I listen to while I’m watching the lines on the street blur at night.

Playlist Series: "long nights, daydreams"

These are songs meant for sunny days and long drives, for when you’re happy with a tint of something else, but you’re not sure what. I made this when I was longing for both home and adventure, for times when I felt both lonely and loved, sequestered and free.

Music: Summer Essentials

For me, songs are associated with moments. There's something about the atmosphere when you hear a certain lyric or melody that can be unforgettable, like the way a song has the power to tug on your heartstrings. Or maybe it's nothing like that, and a song is simply something you can scream your heart out to while you drive or enjoy on a train ride. No matter how you experience music, here are some songs that I've been listening to on repeat for the past months.

Album Thoughts: Divide by Ed Sheeran

"Save your loving arms for a rainy day, / And I'll find comfort in my pain eraser," sings Ed on the opening track, his signature harmony layering the song, coupled with a distinct guitar strumming that is evident in everything he writes. "Eraser" is a journey back to Ed's musical roots: a heavy hip hop influence with his singer/songwriter style.

Concert Experience: You Me at Six (Or 9:30)

The beat was electric, as the crowd moved in time to Josh Franceschi's voice, the lead singer of You Me at Six. My flatmate and I had gotten there slightly late, and we stood at the edge of the balcony, overlooking the crowd and the band. It was packed; the gig had around one hundred people overcapacity.

Playlist Series: "there's a color in your eyes..."

Playlists are a form of therapy for me, and every so often I'll make a playlist to organize the new music I've downloaded and to group together songs that are perfect for a specific mood.

I just recently made a new playlist, and the full tracklisting can be found in this post.

Concert Experience: A Head Full of Coldplay

Screams echoed across the venue. Black seeped into every inch of the stadium, a promise for something big to come. The crowd was silent, aching with anticipation. Suddenly, the audience lit up in a sparkling sea of red. Bands on our wrists illuminated to the beat, winking as Chris Martin's voice cut through the air like a shard of glass.
