Amsterdam, the Netherlands
My first stop in Europe was none other than Amsterdam, which is easily one of the most picturesque places I've ever been to. My cousin and I had a total of about two full days in Amsterdam, and true to our nature, we managed to visit a total of two art museums in that time, and nearly made it to three.
We walked along the canals, which were about just as pretty as you would imagine, with each street lined with cute, well-lit cafes and bicycles zipping by. We had some amazing, mouth-watering pancakes and apple pie (my favorite, even though my mother teased me for eating a stereotypical American food abroad), and some great coffee.
The public transportation was easy enough to navigate, but my cousin and I spent most of our time just walking around the small streets, getting lost and enjoying all the sights. We visited the Anne Frank House, which was a moving glimpse into such a horrific piece of history. We also visited both the Van Gogh museum and the Rijksmuseum, which had a mind-boggling amount of art in one place. The Van Gogh museum also had works by other Impressionists, which I loved. We very nearly also visited the Moco Museum to see the Banksy exhibition, but decided that we would not have enough time to enjoy it as much as it deserved, so we had to be content with looking at the pieces on display outside.
Amsterdam is a city that I've wanted to visit for a long time, and it is one of the most relaxing places I've been to. It has a laid-back feel, and each street brings a new type of beauty. Check out the pictures of our trip below, and stay tuned for more pictures from my month-long Europe trip.
