Stonehenge + Bath
On a rainy and slightly cold day, my flatmate and I took a day trip here. We started off at Stonehenge, which is really what it seems: a pile of rocks. It has an unknown history, which they tell you repeatedly around the exhibition and in the museum. The trip is worth it if you like this sort of thing, but otherwise, it's a very quick trip: you take the shuttle to see the sights, and then you're done.
We ended the day at Bath, walking around the Christmas markets and the cute little streets. We tried to find Northanger Abbey and have a Jane Austen-esque day. We only partially succeeded, since it turned out that Northanger Abbey was actually Northanger Court, which was simply just a group of flats. We ate at Sally Lunn's, which was amazing (it's famous for its buns), and then walked to the Jane Austen Centre, which is easily one of the most entertaining places I've ever been to. They had employees dressed up in costume, and everything in the gift shop was, unsurprisingly, Jane Austen related. They even had 'I heart Darcy' bumper stickers. The entire town was so cute, and it isn't hard to imagine why it's in so many books.
