I’ve been notoriously bad at these (as in, I never stay on top of them), so here’s my wrap-up.
Welcome to my blog, which is a quick trip inside of my mind. I write about the books I love, the places I’ve been, the music I’ve found, and the thoughts I’ve had along the way. Hope you enjoy!
All in books
I was very lucky to receive the eARC of Naturally Tan from Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press in exchange for my honest review. I love Queer Eye, and I was very intrigued about Tan’s book, especially as he is one of the few prominent South Asian figures, and the only openly gay South Asian (that I know of).
I was very lucky to be sent the eARC of Again, but Better by Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press; this was a release I have been highly anticipating. That being said, let me start out with: I really, really, really wanted to like this book. Sadly, Again, but Better, didn’t live up to my expectations.
In the finale to the Throne of Glass series, Maas concludes with a tale of epic proportions, filled with battles waged on a scale unparalleled to the rest of the series. Needless to say, a lot needed to happen in this book. I had a lot of conflicting thoughts about this book, but let me preface my thoughts by saying: I enjoyed this reading experience. Overall, I liked the book. I didn’t love it, as I did with Empire of Storms.
In a surprising addition to the Shatter Me series, Mafi picks up the universe almost exactly where she left off. Though I tore through this book and finished it on the day of its release, it took a while for me to collect my thoughts on the story. I have mixed feelings about this book, and I'm still not sure if I've fully reconciled them.
Despite my hesitation, I was still intrigued at the prospect of a sequel. When I was debating reading A Torch Against the Night anyway, a Barnes & Noble employee told me, "I love that series. That world is my favorite!" Deciding it was worth a try, I purchased the novel. It did not disappoint.
This review has been a long time coming, but I can still remember every emotion I felt on this book's release date. I was anxious, since it seemed like it would be hard to top A Court of Mist and Fury, but also, this book had so many possibilities. The last book ended with such a cliffhanger, and the plot could go anywhere.
