Hi, I'm Ariel.

Welcome to my blog, which is a quick trip inside of my mind. I write about the books I love, the places I’ve been, the music I’ve found, and the thoughts I’ve had along the way. Hope you enjoy!

Living in London

Living in London

I've barely just moved out of London, and undoubtedly, I know I will never fall in love with anything or anyone as fast as I fell in love with this city. This turned into a home I've never known before.

Every time you step out on the street, you're bound to hear a different language, whether you're just walking along a bridge, riding the Tube, or simply just sitting in your favorite bookstore.

Something about this city is so captivating: maybe it's the magnificent architecture that's present anywhere you go, or maybe it's the history that each street seems to tell, or maybe it's the people I've met and the independence I feel, or maybe it's all of that or none of that at all.

My favorite parts about living here aren't in the big, grand trips I've made, but rather in the seemingly mundane everyday activities. When I walk to class daily, I pass Big Ben and the London Eye. When I go grocery shopping and struggle to carry my groceries back across the bridge, I'm surrounded by a beautiful view of the Thames and people rushing to get to their destination. Everything is at your fingertips here - cute cafes and coffee shops, an abundance of museums, book stores on every corner, huge parks, and buildings that tower above you - anything that you can imagine.

I've been able to experience so many new things, and a lot of them are to do with books. I've practically lived in Foyles and Waterstones, and there are now so many baristas and bookstore employees that probably recognize me. This city is art, and I've been able to see some amazing shows, like Cursed Child and Les Mis. I've been able to see some concerts, and meet some of my favorite musicians. Leaving this life is undoubtedly one of the hardest things I've ever had to do.

I already dread going back to college, because I've experienced something here that I never have before: every single day I find something new, find a way to explore the city on my own, fall in love with a new place and a new walk, a new chance to laugh with my flatmates, and I know, that I will never, ever, get the chance to experience a beauty like this again.
