This summer, I was lucky enough to be able to live and work in New York City, which has always been a dream of mine.
Despite the stereotypes, I found the people who lived in New York to be some of the nicest people I had ever met. Even after just two visits to some places, I knew baristas and waitresses by their names, and they remembered mine, and always took the chance to ask how I was doing. One of my hobbies became eating out alone (even if my bank account didn't feel the same). Each outing was a new chance to talk to new people, or spend some time reading and writing as the city and its inhabitants whirled around you.
New York is truly the city that never sleeps: there's always something to do, people to see, and probably a delayed subway on your commute, and I'd give anything to go back.
