Book Thoughts: A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas

This review has been a long time coming, but I can still remember every emotion I felt on this book's release date. I was anxious, since it seemed like it would be hard to top A Court of Mist and Fury, but also, this book had so many possibilities. The last book ended with such a cliffhanger, and the plot could go anywhere.

Music: Summer Essentials

For me, songs are associated with moments. There's something about the atmosphere when you hear a certain lyric or melody that can be unforgettable, like the way a song has the power to tug on your heartstrings. Or maybe it's nothing like that, and a song is simply something you can scream your heart out to while you drive or enjoy on a train ride. No matter how you experience music, here are some songs that I've been listening to on repeat for the past months.

The "Un-American" American

“You kids have only ever thought of yourselves as American, but, unfortunately, you’ll always be brown," my aunt said, while both of my feet were propped up on her couch; we were discussing life in the aftermath of Trump’s election.

Album Thoughts: Divide by Ed Sheeran

"Save your loving arms for a rainy day, / And I'll find comfort in my pain eraser," sings Ed on the opening track, his signature harmony layering the song, coupled with a distinct guitar strumming that is evident in everything he writes. "Eraser" is a journey back to Ed's musical roots: a heavy hip hop influence with his singer/songwriter style.

Book Thoughts: King's Cage by Victoria Aveyard

After the stunning ending of Glass Sword, Aveyard is at it again. Mare is caught in Maven's trap, unable to have any contact with the outside world, unable to escape, and unable to come to terms with the loss of her loved ones. She is broken in a way she has never been before.

House of MinaLima

This is the design studio that created every single design in the Harry Potter movie franchise, from the Marauder's Map to Hogwarts, a History. It's located right around the corner from the Palace Theater, where Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is playing.

Stonehenge + Bath

My flatmate and I took a day trip here, on a rainy and slightly cold day. We started off at Stonehenge, which is really what it seems: a pile of rocks. It has an unknown history, which they tell you at the museum and on plaques around the rocks.

Concert Experience: You Me at Six (Or 9:30)

The beat was electric, as the crowd moved in time to Josh Franceschi's voice, the lead singer of You Me at Six. My flatmate and I had gotten there slightly late, and we stood at the edge of the balcony, overlooking the crowd and the band. It was packed; the gig had around one hundred people overcapacity.

Living in London

I've barely just completed my first month of living in London, and undoubtedly, I know I will never fall in love with anything or anyone as fast as I fell in love with this city.
